March 23, 2020 – (CANTON, Ohio) – In accordance with the statewide stay-at-home order issued by Governor Mike DeWine, Canton Parks and Recreation will close all playgrounds and play structures effective immediately. Park crews are currently taping off playgrounds to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19. The parks themselves are not closing and outdoor spaces will remain open to walk, run, or bike. Social distancing measures should still be practiced by remaining at least six feet away from other people.
Our main office located at 1414 Market Avenue N, 44714 will remain closed to the public through Monday, April 6th. There will be limited staff available to answer phones and emails. The main office phone number is 330.456.4521. The email address is email@example.com.
All shelter and facility rentals to include the Canton Garden Center, Garaux Shelter, all rental areas at the Edward “Peel” Coleman Community Center, and all park shelters scheduled through Monday, April 6th are suspended. All renters will be contacted and will have the option to transfer their rental to a later available date or receive a full refund.
The Edward “Peel” Coleman Community Center located at 1400 Sherrick Road SE, 44707 will continue to remain closed until Monday, April 6th.
All public and Canton Garden Club programs scheduled at the Canton Garden Center located at 1615 Stadium Park Drive, 44718 are also suspended.
We fully understand the inconvenience these changes may cause and want everyone to know that we will be transparent in reevaluating facility usage and program start dates as we receive more information from community health officials.
