Canton Parks and Recreation will turn on its holiday light displays throughout Stadium Park on Thursday, November 19th for the community to enjoy for the holiday season. Normally, the lights would be turned on during the annual Holiday Light Up in the Park event, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic that event was has been cancelled.
“We look forward to having Holiday Light Up in the Park every year but with COVID it was the right decision not to have it,” said Doug Foltz, Director of Canton Parks and Recreation. “We know there are a lot of families that drive through the park to enjoy the lights every year and we wanted to make sure we could keep those traditions going.”
This year marks the 21st year for the displays in Stadium Park. Todd Davis, Parks team member, has led the efforts since the beginning. His talents, with the help of the Parks staff, have allowed for the department to continue to add displays over the years at a significant cost savings. What started as just a few displays has grown into 36 over the years.
The lights will be on every day from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. through January 10th.
